ABOUT ALTA CHILDREN'S CENTER

Located on-site at the world-famous Alta Ski Resort, you can drop off your child at a safe and fun care center and literally step out the door and hit the slopes. The Alta Children’s Center is a full-service child care facility that caters to children from 2 months old to 12 years old. Infants and young children can play, create and learn in the center.

Alta Children's center works closely with the Alf Engen Ski School to facilitate transitions for private ski lessons. Our center is designed to stimulate curious young minds with areas set up for creative arts, social/emotional learning in the dramatic play area, blocks & physical motor movement area, and a math and science discovery area. We provide 3 nutritious meals throughout the day.

OUR MISSION

When you hit the slopes, you want to make sure your child has an enjoyable day too. At the Alta Children’s Center, you can rest assured knowing your little one is receiving exceptional care — and having a wonderful time to boot!

Our policy is to send a welcome text within the first 10 minutes of drop-off to establish a warm communication connection and let you know how your child is settling in, complete with a photo so you can see their transition firsthand. Throughout the day, we share additional fun updates and pictures, offering peace of mind and a joyful peek into their mountain-day adventures.

State Licensed

The Alta Children’s Center is a state licensed child care facility approved to care from ages 6 weeks to 12 years. We also have a level 2 food service permit from the Salt Lake County Health Department and an approved, up to date, fire Inspection.

Winter Childcare Pricing at Alta Children's Center

Every reservation includes warm meals, enriching activities, outdoor fun (weather permitting), and the peace of mind that your child is cared for in a licensed, loving environment at the base of Alta Ski Area.

Our reservation system currently allows you to select full-day, mid-day, or any 4 hours of care. If you’d like a mix of options, the easiest approach is to reserve full-day childcare for all the days you might need, because you’ll only pay for the actual time your child is in care at the end of your stay. We know plans can change—especially on vacation—so our childcare program is designed to give families maximum flexibility and peace of mind.

Flexible Reservations

If you book a mid-day but realize you need a full day, you can easily extend your reservation at any time. Our pay-as-you-go system means you’ll only be billed for the hours actually used. This gives you freedom to plan your vacation without worrying about rigid schedules

Single-Day Options

Full-Day Care: Up to 8 hours in a day. We are open 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Mid-Day Care: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., includes lunch and an afternoon snack.
Any 4 Hours: Choose any 4 hours during a singular day that works best for you.
Receive 20% discount for siblings.

New Flexible Credit Packages

We've simplified our package system to provide greater flexibility for families throughout the winter season.

Instead of purchasing separate Full Day, Midday, or 4-Hour packages, families can now purchase credits that may be used toward any reservation type. This allows you to choose the childcare option that best fits your plans each day while using a single package balance.

Credits are automatically deducted based on the reservation selected and can be used throughout the winter season, subject to availability. Benefits of the new credit system include:

One package for all reservation types
Greater flexibility as your schedule changes
Easy online tracking of remaining credits
The freedom to mix and match reservation options throughout the season

Credits are non-refundable and expire one year from when the pass was purchased. Families are responsible for monitoring their remaining balance and ensuring sufficient credits are available when making reservations. Check out our official Credits Package Announcement page.

Siblings can share any prepaid package, making these options ideal for families with multiple children.

Reservations can be made at Alta Children's Center and Superior Childcare at Snowbird located in The Cliff Lodge.

Avalanche Mitigation

On days when avalanche mitigation is scheduled, the road to Alta Children's Center may temporarily close and typically reopens around 8:30 a.m. This may delay our opening slightly.

As soon as the road is clear and our staff has arrived safely, we’ll send a message from our center phone to confirm that we’re ready to welcome your children. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize everyone’s safety!

Full Day Child Care

Perfect for a full day on the slopes! Includes two snacks, lunch, naps or quiet rest time, and a full day of creative play, crafts, and snowy adventures. Non-refundable $30 deposit with the reservation.

Any 4 Hours

Start any time – completely flexible

Choose the window that works best for you. Time starts when you check your child in. Ideal for a half-day ski session, spa break, or just a quiet breather.

Mid-day (10am - 3pm)

Hours: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Designed with your drive and day in mind—this option helps accommodate canyon traffic and mid-morning starts. We staff extra support during this time block to ensure smooth transitions and high-quality care.

Miss Ilse and her team were fantastic, providing frequent photo updates and reports on our son's progress through the day. The facility itself was great with bubble machines and projectors and plenty of play and redt options, the staff was delightful, and the location was perfect, right at the base of the mountain with ski-in/ski-out childcare. Thanks so much and we'll be back next season!

Our son Levi (19 months) attended childcare on Friday, March 29th. It could not have gone better. My wife Lauren and I were incredibly impressed with the organization of the room, and Levi seemed like he could have stayed there to play all night if we would have let him. Isle is incredible and we can tell how much effort she puts into the center each day.

Ms. Ilse and her team are AMAZING!! You can put your complete trust in them to make sure your little one has a fantastic day. I've been using her child care center for two years now. My now 3 year old loves going to play. Sometimes they go sledding, or play dress up, they jump on the bounce toys, or do craft projects, and play with the Paw Patrol toys just to name a few. The care team is wonderful with helping out when your child has "an accident". They have even been known to wash their clothes so you don't have to take home a bad of yucky underwear! We have yet to come across a situation they could not handle. I HIGHLY recommend the Alta Children's Center!!
